Forty years ago, Wonder Woman had curly hair and an urgent, pained facial expression as she tried to intervene in the Vietnam War. Peace and Justice were the stated goals.

Today, Wonder Woman has straight shampoo-ad hair and the blank facial expression of a make-up model as she attempts to intervene in…it’s unclear what she’s doing. War in the Third World is out of sight and out of mind. Peace and Justice are not on the agenda. The stated goals have been reduced to electoral politics and branding.
